I was born in July 1955 and started riding shortly after my 16th birthday. I passed my test in April 1972 and have since ridden a wide variety of bikes; from Honda C90 to Blackbird, Peugeot moped to Moto Guzzi California. In addition I have over 30 years driving experience, having been trained to LGV/HGV level in both the Royal Air Force & the Metropolitan Police. My qualifications include:-
Metropolitan Police Standard Motorcycle Course - June 1985 (Top Student)
RoSPA Gold Award - attained November 2003
RoSPA Gold Award - retained Nov 2006, Nov 2009 & Dec 2012
I A M Motorcycle Test - passed February 2004
I.A.M. Observer - qualified June 2004
I.A.M. Senior Observer - qualified July 2005, re-qualified June 2011
BTEC Advanced Award for Motorcycle Instructors - gained September 2004
'First Bike on Scene' - 1st Aid course (RCS approved) - passed December 04
Member of DSA approved 'Register of Post-Test Motorcycle Trainers' - July 07
Passed the IAM Special Assessment (enhanced/extended test) - December 2008
MCITA member - Motor Cycle Industry Trainers Association - August 2009
In my latest personal training assessment I scored a mark of 'Excellent' in each of the following categories:-
Prioritisation & Explanation of Faults, Communication & Use of Training Aids, Knowledge of Roadcraft & The Highway Code, Aim of Ride & Riding Position.
